Conducted an R&D project to determine the compatibility of a special aggregate material. The aggregate was found corrosive to several construction materials due to high chloride levels.

Conducted corrosion review of design and material selection for a new Ammonium Perchlorate facility. Several material changes were made as a result, due to highly explosive and corrosive nature of the material.
New United Motors
Conducted corrosion investigations for submersible pumps and motors at a paint facility. It was determined that the severe corrosion was due to stray current. An impressed current system was recommended to resolve the problem.
City of Marina, CA
Conducted failure analysis and material selection of stainless steel intake pumps for a desalination plant. As a result the pumps were replaced with less expensive epoxy coated carbon steel with CP. The pumps have performed very well since then.
Conducted investigations for copper pipe corrosion in a large housing development. This was a major research project including litigation support, which lasted for two years.

Conducted failure analysis and material selection of stainless steel remediation pumps. It was determined that the material was not according to specifications. In addition the bushings were changed to 17-4 PH grade

Conducted corrosion investigation of steam lines. Severe corrosion was found under thermal insulation. Recommendations were provided for coating under the insulation.
Campbell Soup Company
Conducted corrosion investigations of carbon steel cooker chains. Coupons were installed at various parts of the large structure. The source of corrosion was determined to be galvanic corrosion resulting from the stainless steel trays. Also, corrosion of soup cans was investigated and it was found that the chlorine being used for bacteria control caused the corrosion problem. Several recommendations were made to mitigate the problem.
